Whole Body Cryotherapy Machine

Think of Whole Body Cryotherapy as the amplified evolution of the traditional ice bath, but without the discomfort and inconvenience. When you step into our cryosauna, your body will be exposed to ultra low temperatures that promote and hyper-stimulate your body’s natural healing functions. Results of this cutting edge treatment include accelerated detoxification, reduction of inflammation, decreased joint pain, elevation of your metabolic rate, acceleration of collagen production, rejuvenation of muscle tissue, and much more.

Whole Body Cryotherapy: What to expect...

YOUR FIRST FROST

After receiving a full explanation of our Whole Body Cryotherapy treatment, we will escort you back to one of our changing rooms, where we will provide you with gloves, socks, slippers, and a robe. When ready, we will lead you to our state-of-the-art cryosauna, where you will step in and disrobe as the platform below lifts you up to the optimal position with your head comfortably outside the sauna.

Unlike like many traditional cryosaunas, our treatment starts off with 40 seconds of heat to promote an increased blood circulation. This brief wave of heat brings blood to the extremities, but it is not intense enough to cause perspiration.  This innovative process allows the sauna to utilize cooler temperatures that encourage natural healing. After 40 seconds of heat, your body will be enveloped in a cold, dry mist of nitrogen gas, taking the surrounding temperature as low as -320°F. Depending on what you elect, you can remain in the sauna for up to 3 minutes. As the mist automatically shuts off, we will return your robe and lower the platform, concluding your treatment.

Realistically, it is possible for you to be in and out of the entire treatment and back in the car in less than 15 minutes if you were in a hurry.

Whole Body Cryotherapy: What you need to know...

FAQ'S

Is Whole Body Cryotherapy Safe?

Absolutely! Liquid Nitrogen is used as a cooling agent for the skin and never comes in direct contact with your flesh. Nitrogen is a non-toxic, natural gas that makes up almost 80% of the air you breathe! In addition, you will be accompanied by one of our trained staff during the entire treatment to ensure that your body temperature and comfort levels are optimal.  And since your head is always outside of the cryosauna, there is no chance of asphyxiation.

Can anyone tolerate the cold?

The air is extremely dry. With regular practice, some people do not even shiver. You will be guided while in the cryosauna, but it is recommended that you continue to rotate your body in the sauna to evenly expose your body to the nitrogen. Think of dry cold as standing naked in a freezer on a hot day - cold but not unbearable.

How does Whole Body Cryotherapy compare to an ice bath?

Other than applying “cold” as the healing agent, they do not compare. An ice bath is painful to many. The pain and the discomfort associated with an ice bath is from the density of the liquid on your skin, not the temperature. The nitrogen that will surround your body while in the cryosauna is less dense than water, and it will not penetrate your skin or cause pain. Our cryosauna also has the ability to reach much cooler, healing temperatures, and to enhance the proven benefits of cold therapy.

How will I feel afterward?

You will feel refreshed, energized, and rejuvenated!  The effects of just one cryotherapy session can last for hours. Depending on the specific relief you are seeking, and how often you treat your symptoms, the results of cryotherapy can be life-changing. You will always leave the cryotherapy sauna feeling better than you did when you arrived. Your body will release endorphins, the natural “feel good” hormones, that will help to minimize pain and promote a general sense of well-being. Many athletes report using cryotherapy before a workout to optimize their performance and concluding the same workout with another cryotherapy session for faster recovery. As an added benefit, if your workout involved wine instead of weights, some swear that it is the best remedy for a night of overindulgence.

How soon can I exercise after a Whole Body Cryotherapy Session?

Immediately. The anti-inflammatory effects of cryotherapy enable you to boost your performance levels without joint pain, with more stamina, and with increased flexibility.

How often should I use the cryosauna?

Ideally you would come in for treatment 2-3 times a week if you are treating an existing condition of chronic joint pain, or if you have an inflammatory skin condition like dermatitis or psoriasis. For health enthusiasts, a typical schedule includes Whole Body Cryotherapy as part of a regular workout regimen to help with basic muscle soreness.  Competitive athletes, who train rigorously, come as much as twice a day (both before and after training) in order to maximize the benefits of cryotherapy.

How do I prepare for a treatment? Should I shower?

No, this is an efficient in-and-out process. For safety, you do need to be completely dry before entering the sauna, to remove all jewelry, and to ensure all undergarments you choose to wear are also completely dry. No sweaty gym undergarments can be worn in the sauna.

Why do I need socks and gloves?

The method of hyper-cooling the skin is so efficient and rapid that your body’s natural reaction to redirect blood flow from your extremities to your abdomen to maintain your core temperature.  The socks and gloves ensure that your hands and feet remain comfortable during your cryotherapy session.

Who should NOT use whole body cryotherapy?

There are a select few conditions that do not permit Whole Body Cryotherapy including unmanaged hypertension, reliance on a pacemaker, history of cancer / or currently being treated for cancer, deep vein thrombosis, Reynaud’s syndrome, cold allergies, or pregnancy. Please contact us directly to discuss your condition prior to making your appointment.

Are there limitations to who can participate in a Whole Body Cryotherapy treatment?

We can accommodate clients up to 440 pounds in our cryosauna. Children must be at least 14 years old, meet a minimum height requirement, and they must have a signed parental consent form. You must also be able to stand up straight for at least 5 minutes without any assistance (touching the sides of the chamber) to participate in the treatment. Please note: our cryosauna is designed to cater to a full-sized adult body; however, though the treatment cannot hurt you, some children may be too small for the machine. In this case, contact us as we may be able to accommodate your specific needs with a cryotherapy spot treatment.

What are the risks of Whole Body Cryotherapy?

While Whole Body Cryotherapy has minimal risks, there is a possibility that you might experience some unanticipated physical and psychological effects. It is possible for blood pressure (systolic) to fluctuate by up to ten points during the procedure, but this effect reverses after the end of the procedure as peripheral circulation returns to normal. Other risks might include an allergic reaction to extreme cold (rare), claustrophobia, anxiety, and the activation of some viral conditions (cold sores) due to stimulation of the immune system.
